September 2024
September marks the beginning of autumn, and it is the most special time of the year in Napa Valley. Vineyards are harvested for grapes, and this is officially the birth of the 2024 vintage! Let’s cheer the people and the wines that make our valley one of the most famous and respected wine regions in the world!
Did you know that astronomical fall begins on the day of the equinox, which means equal night, giving the impression that both day and night are exactly 12 hours long? This day will be Sunday, September 22, 2024. However, in most regions, the equinox day is a bit longer than 12 hours.
Fall is the time when the warm, stable weather of summer gives way to colder, more erratic weather conditions, though this varies substantially from one region to another.
The start of autumn and the fall equinox are celebrated in cultures and religions around the world with various fall traditions, holidays, and festivals. Along with the harvest of grapes, apple fairs and various harvest celebrations are a nice appointment for the week ends, as well as the many county fairs that take place in the major towns of the North Bay.

How to Relax in September
September can be a very tiring month for the ones of us that are working in the wine industry, and it can be easy to forget to relax and spend quality time with loved ones. Relaxation is crucial for maintaining overall well-being. Here are some tips to help you unwind and de-stress.
Take a few minutes every day to concentrate on the present moment. Use apps like Headspace or Calm to help you with mindfulness activities. Sit up straight, keep both feet on the floor, close your eyes, take deep breaths, and say something positive to yourself. Concentrate on your breathing and try to ignore any background noise.
Make sure to exercise regularly, such as walking, doing yoga, or stretching. Studies have shown that exercising can help lower stress levels and increase endorphins. Whether you choose to take a morning walk, go to the gym after work, or do a workout with your family before dinner, make sure to stay active and get your heart pumping. Develop a workout schedule that fits your lifestyle.
Cut back on screen time, especially before going to sleep. Try reading a book, listening to relaxing music, or doing a quiet hobby instead. While cell phones and social media help us stay connected, it's not always good to be constantly online. Choose to spend time with loved ones rather than mindlessly scrolling through social media.
Engage in activities that make you happy, such as painting, gardening, or playing an instrument. Hobbies can bring you a sense of satisfaction and happiness.
Get a massage. Massages are not just for pampering yourself at a spa! Massages have a lot of benefits that can help relieve tension and stress in your body. Let your massage therapist know where you feel stressed or which areas need more focus. Visit as often as necessary and feel your stress disappear!
