March 2024

Last Thursday, February 22nd, 2024, St Pierre Team in collaboration with Napa Chamber of Commerce celebrated the 18th Birthday of the Spa with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony! St Pierre opened for business back in 2006 in its original location in South Napa, and it moved to the current space at 2400 Clay Street in 2012. Did you know that we still have some of the original members enrolled in our membership program? They have been supporting St Pierre since its beginning – and that is a lot of massages!

Thanks to everyone that made it to the event, it has been a special day for all of us. 18 years of business is a long time, and it has been possible only because of our loyal customers.

Please consider joining our Vitality Membership program to support the business and keep yourself healthy!

 CBD - Cannabidiol Oil

CBD stands for cannabidiol, which is a chemical compound found in the Cannabis sativa plant, also known as marijuana or hemp. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), another compound found in cannabis, CBD is not psychoactive, meaning it does not produce a "high" when consumed.
CBD

CBD can be extracted from the cannabis plant using several methods, with some being more commonly used than others:

·         CO2 Extraction: This method uses carbon dioxide (CO2) under high pressure and low temperatures to isolate, preserve, and maintain the purity of the CBD.

·         Solvent Extraction: This method involves the use of solvents like ethanol, butane, propane, or isopropyl alcohol to extract the CBD from the plant material. After extraction, the solvent is removed through evaporation, leaving behind the CBD extract.

·         Olive Oil Extraction: This is a safe and inexpensive method that involves heating the plant material with olive oil to extract the cannabinoids. The resulting extract is not as concentrated as other methods, but it is easy to do at home.

·         Steam Distillation: This method involves passing steam through the plant material to extract the CBD. The steam carries the CBD oil through a tube, where it is condensed and collected.

Once CBD is extracted, it can be used in a variety of products and formulations:

·         Oil: extract is often mixed with a carrier oil, such as coconut or hemp seed oil, to create CBD oil. This oil can be taken orally by placing drops under the tongue or added to food and beverages.

·         Edibles: extract can be infused into various edible products, such as gummies, chocolates, and baked goods, to provide a convenient and tasty way to consume CBD.

·         Topicals: extract can be added to creams, lotions, balms, and salves for topical application. These products are used to target specific areas of the body and are often used for pain relief or skincare.

·         Capsules and Pills: extract can be encapsulated and formed into pills or capsules for easy and precise dosing.

·         Beverages: extract can be added to beverages, such as water, coffee, tea, and smoothies, to create CBD-infused drinks.

·         Pet Products: extract can also be used in pet products, such as treats and oils, to provide potential health benefits for pets.

Featured Service:  Massage Enhancement CBD butter and CBD Ointment

CBD is increasingly being incorporated into massage therapy due to its therapeutic benefits. At St Pierre we can include CBD as enhancement to your massage, in the form of a CBD-infused ointment or body butter.

In either form, the product is applied only to the area of your choice. Here's how CBD can enhance your experience:

·         Pain Relief: CBD is believed to have analgesic (pain-relieving) properties. When applied topically during a massage, it may help alleviate muscle soreness, tension, and inflammation, providing relief for those with chronic pain conditions or sore muscles from exercise.

·         Relaxation and Stress Reduction: CBD has been reported to have calming and anxiety-reducing effects. When incorporated into a massage, it may promote relaxation and help reduce stress and anxiety levels, enhancing the overall therapeutic benefits of the treatment.

·         Skin Benefits: CBD is also known for its potential skin-soothing properties. When applied topically, it may help moisturize and nourish the skin, making it beneficial for those with dry or irritated skin conditions.

·         Enhanced Massage Experience: CBD-infused massage ointment or body butter can enhance the massage experience by providing a soothing and aromatic element to the treatment. The subtle scent and feel of the CBD product can add to the overall relaxation and enjoyment of the massage session.

For your enjoyment at home, we retail Lavender and Lemongrass CBD infused Bath Salts. CBD bath salts are a popular way to unwind and relax. They contain a mixture of Epsom salts, essential oils, and CBD extract. Epsom salts can help soothe sore muscles, while essential oils can provide aromatherapy benefits. CBD is believed to have anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties, which can enhance the bath's overall relaxing effects.

As always, it's recommended to consult with a healthcare professional before trying CBD or incorporating it into your wellness routine, especially if you have any underlying health conditions or are taking medications.
