August 2024
August is the last month of summer before the fall steps in, and countless state and county fairs are held this month. Many of these events align with the harvest season. Napa Valley wineries that produce sparkling wines are excited for the upcoming harvest of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, set to start this month, and initiate the most exciting part of the season for the local wine industry.

The annual Perseid meteor shower lights up the night sky this month. The peak days are August 12-13. However, you can see meteors for a couple of weeks before and after this date. Find a dark location away from the lights of the city and watch these little bits and pieces of space debris and dust as they enter the earth’s atmosphere and burn up. When you see one make a wish.
News from St Pierre Massage & Spa
In the month of August, our retail corner will present a new product: Herbal Facial Steam. While we do not provide facials as a service at the spa, we wanted to make available to our customers a self-care product that delivers grandiose results in deep pore cleansing.
This product is a natural herbal mix, where each of the herbs used is rich in nutrients that nourish and tone the skin. The aromatic oils from the plants are released by the heat and absorbed by the skin. This is a 100% organic product, with comfrey, calendula, rose, lavender, and chamomile as ingredients. Please ask our front desk for more information on the product and how to use it.

Relaxation Space: Vitality Room
A relaxation room is typically a designated space in a building or facility that is specifically designed to promote relaxation, stress relief, and mental calmness. These rooms are often equipped with comfortable seating, and may include amenities like soft lighting, soothing music, calming décor, and even features like aromatherapy or calming visuals.
The purpose of a relaxation room is to provide individuals with a quiet and peaceful environment where they can take a break from their usual activities or stressful situations. It's a place where people can unwind, recharge, and alleviate stress, which can contribute to improved mental well-being and productivity.

Our Vitality room is a dedicated space designed to promote relaxation, calmness, and stress relief. It's furnished with comfortable seating, soft lighting, soothing decor, calming music, aromatherapy scents, a fireplace, and a water fountain.
The fireplace evokes a sense of warmth and coziness. It includes a gentle crackling or popping sound as the wood burns and shifts. This sound is often considered soothing and can contribute to a relaxing atmosphere, especially during colder months or when someone is seeking comfort.

Similarly, the sound of a water fountain is widely recognized for its relaxing qualities. It often produces a gentle, flowing sound as water cascades and trickles over rocks. This sound is soothing and can create a tranquil atmosphere, like the calming effect of nature sounds such as rainfall or a babbling brook.

Soft lighting is known to have a relaxing effect on people due to its gentle and diffused nature. The gentle flickering of candlelight can be mesmerizing and soothing. It adds a dynamic element to the light, creating a sense of movement and life that can be quite calming to observe. Candlelight is often associated with rituals such as meditation, relaxation exercises, or romantic settings. These associations can enhance the sense of calmness and relaxation when surrounded by candlelight.

Aromatherapy is a holistic healing treatment that uses natural plant extracts, known as essential oils, to promote health and well-being. These essential oils are extracted from various parts of plants and can be used in different ways to achieve relaxation and reduce stress. Certain scents like lavender, chamomile, or vanilla are known for their calming and stress-relieving properties, enhancing the overall relaxation experience.
